The Great Outdoors

Camping

Get away for the weekend at the Rock Island/Quad Cities KOA in your RV, tent, or a cabin. They have tons of fun activities for friends and family who want to get back in touch with nature. Visit their site to plan your trip

Playgrounds

Milan boasts six fun parks to play at with playground equipment, covered shelters, tables, and more. One of these parks is the Milan Spray Ground, which is perfect for a hot summer's day. Visit the Village website for details about our parks!

Hennepin Canal State Trail

An ideal destination for a relaxing day of picnicking, trail-going, biking, fishing, and old fashioned family fun. The entire trail spans five Illinois counties: Rock Island, Bureau, Henry, Lee, and Whiteside.

Milan hosts part of it, including the historic Steel Dam at Lock 30, a pollinator garden and picnic area at Lock 31, and the great Mississippi River at Lock 32. Learn more about the trail at QC Trails or the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
 

Camden Park

Nestled between the Rock Island-Milan Parkway and Route 67 is the beautiful Camden Park. Anyone can host their next party at any of the facilities available at Camden Park, such as the Lodge or one of the three outdoor shelters. Protect Wildlife and Preserve Natural Resources

Big Island Soil & Water Preservation Association

BISWPA is dedicated to preserving the natural places of Big Island and enhancing the amenities so everyone can enjoy this green oasis for generations to come. 

Make a difference by participating in their Xstream Cleanup groups and multi-phase renovation projects or by supporting their organization through sponsorships.

Rock Island Conservation Club

The RICC's purpose is to promote, support and protect our conservation resources, protect our wildlife’s natural habitat, and to enable families to enjoy the natural resources within our local community.

Members can enjoy free camping, fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and beautiful wildlife in the RICC's natural surroundings.

Fishing

There is no shortage of fishing spots in Milan! The Hennepin Canal flows all along Milan and meets the Rock River and the Mississippi River at Lock 32. Several other bodies of water and creeks add diversity to your fishing itinerary.

QC Animal Welfare Center

Quad City Animal Welfare Center

The mission of the QCAWC is to operate a shelter for homeless animals, to offer a spay and neuter program, and provide humane education. They are the only full-service, no-kill shelter serving the Quad-Cities Area.
